Martin Štěpánek, System Test Engineer and Professor Zdeněk Hanzálek shared their experience and knowledge with car communication. They explained how data transfer works and even security.
The first speaker was Martin Štěpánek, System Test engineer at Valeo. He led you into the labyrinth of cables in a car revealing their initial point and target. You got broader insight into the terms such as gateway or bus in automotive. He discussed with you how much data it is being transmitted and what kind of information they actually contain. There was also a part dedicated to the security that persuades you how you and your car are secured.
The second speaker was prof. Zdeněk Hanzálek.
In his talk, we concentrated on two time-triggered protocols:
(1) a static segment of FlexRay
(2) Qbv extension of IEEE Time-Sensitive Networking.
Time-triggered systems follow the schedules obtained during the design time and satisfy timing requirements by construction. We showed several interesting problems, and we saw how algorithms found these schedules.
